-NOTICE OF REGATTA & SAILING INSTRUCTIONS-
The Sea Cliff Yacht Club Cruising Division Presents
« THE MOONLIGHTER«
First Warning 1600 hrs - Saturday, September 21, 2002
Rules: The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules
of Sailing-2001-2004; the prescriptions of the United States
Sailing Association (USSA); the Performance Handicap Racing
Fleet (PHRF) Regulations of the YRA of LIS; except as any of
these are altered by the sailing instructions; and by these
sailing instructions. For non-spinnaker boats, the PHRF
Regulations are supplemented by the YRA of LIS Non-Spinnaker
Regulations (see YRA of LIS "Handicap Racing
Program").
Eligibility: This race is open to all members of the
Sea Cliff Yacht Club. Members and non-members are required to
register their intention to race with the Race Committee and
furnish their PHRF rating by 1400 hours on Saturday, September
21, 2002. The Entry Fee is $25. Please email your intent to
participate to doug@wefer.net.
Divisions: Each boat will be assigned to an appropriate
division (spinnaker & non-spinnaker). Division assignments
will be announced at the Skipper’s Meeting.
Skipper’s Meeting: A Skipper’s Meeting will be held
on the deck of the Sea Cliff Yacht Club at 1400 hours on
Saturday, September 21, 2002.
Start & Finish: The Start will be between a white
flag on RC boat Sunset and a pin with white flag. The finish
will be when a boat passes to the West of the Glen Cove
Breakwater. A boat shall take her own time and report it after
going ashore.

Course: Course A - Start to Red Bell 42 (Mamaroneck) to
Red Gong 32 (The Cows) to Bell 15 (Lloyds Point) to the Glen
Cove Breakwater
Course B - Start to Red Bell 42 (Mamaroneck) to Red Gong 32A
(Mid Channel) to Bell 15 (Lloyds Point) to the Glen Cove
Breakwater
All turning marks shall be kept to starboard.
Time Limit: There is no time limit.
Withdrawal: Any boat withdrawing before
the start or abandoning the race for any reason shall notify
the Race Committee at the earliest opportunity on VHF Channel
09 or by telephone to the Club Office, (516) 671-7374 or (516)
671-0193
Protests: Written protests must be
delivered to the Race Committee within 90 minutes of the
recorded time of finish. The protest Committee will hear
protests in approximately the order of receipt at Sea Cliff
Yacht Club on Sunday, September 22, 2002 at 6:00 pm.
Time Allowances: PHRF time allowances will be based on
the actual distance of the course sailed.
As a condition of participating in the Moonlighter,
any boat owner, helmsman or crew member must agree that the safety of
the boat and her crew and the decision whether or not to start or
continue to race is solely their responsibility and each of them waives
all claims which he or she or any heir, representative, successor or
assignee, may have against the Sea Cliff Yacht Club, and its officers,
trustees, members, committees, employees or agents arising out of or in
any way connected with participation in such race or activity.
